Hi there, I just found out, that my Ipad is able to transfer the audio stream to an external DAC via the Camera Connecotr Kit.

Can you name a DAC that improves the audio quality compared to the Ipad's DAC and costs at max 100 $ ?

I have found this thread, but I i'm not sure which to buy.

I want to connect my Sony Amp to the Ipad.

Will this DAC be compatible ?

Off the bat, I'd say no. I don't see any battery in it and not AC or DC input either, which means it's totally dependent on current coming off the USB bus, which the iPad doesn't supply enough of even with iOS4. Compatible DACs, barring any software incompabilities, are those that use its own PSU to power every chip in the circuit, so take note that having a battery or a PSU is not a guarantee that it will work, since some of them use the USB bus to power at the very least the receiver chip, if not the entire digital section up to the DAC.

What Sony amp? If it's an HT receiver then it has digital inputs. You can get an iPad-compatible dock that outputs an SPDIF signal like the Pure i20.
