I was reading this interesting dac chip review:

and I found obviously interesting the Wolfson WM8740.

Looking around I found that it's used on some cd players, like Cambridge Audio, or souncards, like Onkyo SE serie.

Anybody knows if it's used on external DAC too?

Yes, it's used in our amplifier's optional DAC module

it corresponds with my own listening tests that Analog Devices makes the best DACs.

Please what external dac use the Analog Devices?

Your products are interesting. The "Digital Input Board with WM8740 converter" is really very interesting as external dac. Does it work only with your amplifier or it can be independent?

And of course the Rega Apollo and Saturn.

The ca 840c could be used as an external dac and I believe uses the AD1955.

yes it does, the 740 and other uses wolfson. Use a cdp as external dac is possible, it does'nt mean that is the perfect solution using the computer as source.

Hi Roberto,

At this time it's only an optional board to be used with our amp
but we're thinking of building a stand-alone DAC with the
same components.

OP275 w/ the AD1955? Yuck. I do not understand the attraction to this chip, especially for I/V, both from the standpoint of qualitative and quantitative performance. There are much better op-amps in AD's lineup.

That was an interesting read, but only a few DACs were mentiuoned. Are there any websites that list most of the current DACs used in audio equipment along with their general characteristics.
