Do you need a combo or will separate units do?

Here are some nice separate units:

Project Ember or any Garage1217 offering + Nobsound TdA1387
Bravo Ocean + Schiit Modi Multibit

I own the HD250 and it really benefits from tubes, perhaps more so than any other headphone Ive owned.
The La Figaro 339 is on sale on Drop at the moment, but that is above your budget. You might also look into the Darkvoice 336.

As far as DACs go, the HD250 can have some upper mids/ treble peaks on certain songs. I would suggest a R2R or multibit DAC.

If you want an all-in-one device, look up the Audio GD R2R-11. It can drive the HD250 and has a nice warm sound to it. It will sound better on a tube amp, but the R2R-11 will get you up and running, and give you time to save $ for a better amp.
