Hiya...

It IS the battery...

That exact same thing happened with my 311, i'd put it on charge, and then after a few seconds it'd fizzle out... that is when I decided to lick the battery terminals to see if I could 'taste' the charge... put it back into the player, and it then charged solidly for four hours

...don't forget that these batteries have probably been sat in Sonys warehouse for the past ten years.. they need a little coaxing... just like a car battery would (and... fundamentally, they are the same kind of battery also

Duncan,

Yeah, I licked the terminals and still nothing. The D303 flicked on and then off, the D25 didn't even recognize the battery.

Hrmmm, looks like I'll have to go get another one from the DAPC, unless somebody has a spare that I could buy one from.

Hrmm, I don't think it's charging? The battery charging meter shows up but then it dissapears.

Also, does the D25 doesn't charge either?

I don't think it's the batt because I just got it from the Sony DAPC about a month ago.
