Do these clamp on your head? like the Onear K171 HD does? the K171HD was very uncomfortable for me after a while.

Havent tried ultrasone, but supposedly they arent the best at comfort.
So my vote goes easily to the D2000. If you want more clamp, then the Beyers.

Then you haven't tried the D2000, because it IS the standard in comfort.

I've used my A500s through a 24 hour plane ride, but I see you're returning your A700, so I recommend the K272HD, granted, I've never used the 770s, but I can wear my velour padded K271s for at least half a day.

), did you try the cd3k ? I find these cans so annoying....I cannot stand them for more than 1H now

that's weird coz the 1700 looks quite identical to the 3k ?!
but I think the beyer velours will be easier on my ears that the pesky fake leather of the cd3k...

and it sure will be easier on my glasses too, more "mellow"

I never tried the CD3000. But from what I've read, they have pleather pads, the CD1700 some kind of soft woven fabric. Real big earcups, complete surrounding the ears, without touching them. At least, mine. Great with glasses too.
Beyer velour pads comes next, comfort wise.

I tried both, and prefer the Beyer velour pads over the pleather Denon.
Mainly because the Denon always gave the illusion to fall apart or off the head any moment. Beyer feels more sturdy and secure.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was looking at the DT770 pro over the 2005 consumer because it is $80 cheaper and would be easier to drive. I do greatly prefer the fabric/velour of the AD700 to the pleather on the A700, but I gather that the D2000 is a higher quality material. It sounds like the D2000 would be a better sounding phone if I can find it in stock in my price range; otherwise the DT770 would I'm sure be fine.

Thanks again!

My vote goes toward: get the best sounding ones all three are very comfortable (did not try d2000 though, so that one is FWIR)

I can wear then easily for a couple hours at a time. Probably longer, I just don't get to have listening sessions that long.

And they do good with out an amp and played most music decently that I threw at them.

I agree. My DT770s are super-comfy as well. When my D5000s arrive, I can only hope they are at least close to matching the 770s in terms of comfort (and it would be awesome if they are even better!)

For everyone who finds the D2000 comfortable, do the ear pads make your ears hot and sweaty like the pleather ones do? I think the D2000 has actual leather, which should do better in this respect, but I'd like confirmation. My main gripe with the A700 and Aurvana Live! was hot ears due to pleather.

The D2000 has not leather, but pleather earpads. Though of rather good quality. They didn't make my ear sweaty or too hot.
