I have the opportunity to purchase a d-5/d-50 in what looks like pretty good order. It would help my decision to hear reports / owners opinions on this classic discman.

I had one of those (D-5) and was very impressed with it until I compared it one day to an Onkyo CD player on my parents' system. It may just have been my player but it had a very weak DAC, lacking detail.
