Hi there everyone,

I am changing my systems around a bit to make headphone listening more practical. A couple of options i'd like you opinion on please:

1) A cyrus DAC X with couple with a Cyrus Pre XVS. the Pre has headphone output. The source is my PC. All matching, nice remote control, all that, which is nice.

or

2) An apogee mini-dac coupled with my meridian 501 Pre-amp which has headphone output. The difference here is that the apogee also has a volume pot on it. I would actually connect the spogee directly to my Meridian M33 active speakers via the balanced output, set these outputs to Variable mode so controlled by manually turning the knob on the front.

The meridian 501 would be used purely for headphone only, not connected to speakers, but this also then gives me remote controlled headphone output, and its a pretty good output to boot.

I'm tempted by the apogee route, even though it won;t look as "neat". I thin the direct connection to the speakers should sound pretty stunning no?

What do you think, which one?

thanks v.much...
