Had a problem recently with my CX300s giving very low volume on the left channel. Was sure that it was due to ear wax going through the left grill.
Could not see how to remove grills easily so I chewed a small peice of plastic off the retaining rim with pliers and levered off the grill. Sure enough the underside of the grill was caked with wax - yuck!
I now want to run the CX300s without the grills as there is no easy way of putting them back on. To me the CX300s sound fine now without the grills (I removed the right side too to balance them up). Am I right in thinking that the grills perform no acoustic purpose?
