cutting out the highs.. eq?

i have a phillips cd player, lite dac am, dared mp5, and akg k701. i'm looking for the best way to cut some of the highs out of my system. would eqing be the best idea? thanks.

It sounds like the best idea, but how would you go about doing it..with a hardware equalizer?

i'm not sure. that's why i made this thread. i was just wondering what my options were.

I agree with Fitz, it's best to do processing in the digital domain. Analogue eq if done poorly has all kinds of band creep and harmonics problems.

May I ask why do you want to "cut out" the treble in your system? Is it because of sibilance? Perhaps your best solution would be to experiment with other headphones (like the HD650 that's more bass-centric) to try to find a signature that you like rather than using EQ as a crutch.
