Japan does have alot of tech industry.

But lets not forget the US houses the most advanced tech industies. Intel, AMD, Nvidia, ATI, Microsoft and quite a bit of the open source crowd.

btw, ATi is Canadian, and IBM's research tech is far beyond Intel and AMD
