I've noticed per custom fit, suppliers are offering silicone and/or acrylic "castings".  Has anyone been able to try both?  If so, what are the pros and cons of each material?

I read a little about this yesterday. Acrylic is just more solid - no flex. Maybe there are upsides and downsides to this, in terms of longevity, but I don't want to speculate.
