i'm also thinking of making one out of two lengths of canare "2-conductor" cable rather than starquad. reason: mainly to avoid having to do any splitting of starquad. maybe better sound. probably just look a little better (at least to me, cuz otherwise i'd just cover the two rca ends after the split with heatshrink) cable would cost 2x as much, but that's not a big cost anyway. only problem would be fitting two cables into the hood. depending on what hood you get. i'm getting a plastic one from

so, could dremel it if it was to narrow, but i have no dremmel

also, you should put electric tape, heatshrink or something on the 9pin end becaue 9pin has no clamp. don't want to put all the weight on the solder! (insight courtesy of terrymx

Yea I was seriously considering building a few to sell as well. I ordered a couple 9 pin dsub and the 9 pin connectors to go along with them and StarQuad from Westlake-Electronics for cheap, just came today.

i made it with dip8 sockets and hoods from circuit specialists (hoods are nice and cheep - plastic. and 2 lengths of canare 2-conductor rather than one of star quad and then splitting it. testing between this cable and another i have with a y-split: haven't noticed any big differences yet. basic nikel switchcraft rca's
