I have a chance to buy a new/sealed Q701 for a good price, just a tad higher than a new K702.

Based on reviews it seems that the Q702 has more bass, more balanced than the 702, it's the common opinion between Q and K.

But...

I also read that the current production 702's are now somewhat voiced differently, having more bass (but not bass monsters, of course), and current 702's now are virtually identical to an "old" Q701 sound-wise.

Can anyone confirm this? Does the current production 702's are voiced differently than the old 702's, so that the newer ones are virtually indistinguishable from an out of production Q701?

Hi,
Maybe I can help. These headphones are almost the same but not indetical. Q701 has got better bas than K702. Overall Q701 sounds better but also depends on the price.
The best way is to try it both and choose what you like the most. If i were you I would buy Q701.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I think that the safest bet (regarding bass) would be to buy the Q701.

I can buy the K702 for 128 Euros and the Q701 for 150 Euros (new/sealed box)...

But there are 2 things that worry me:
- the headband with the bumps - is it really that much uncunfortable?
- the earpads - are they replaceable like the ones on the 702? I can't find it mentioned anywhere about the Q701...

One more thing: you said "Overall Q701 sounds better but also depends on the price." What do you mean by depending on the price?

I think he meant by how much the Q701 sells for. General example, If the Q701 sells for $300-400 then maybe it's not worth it. If it can be had at $200 or less then it's a good deal.

Reading the title of the thread, I thought you were referring "Made in Austria" or "Made in China".

No, current production 702 (China) and Q701 (China too).

So, anyone else had the chance to try these recently? From some graphs they seem the same, from others it seems the Q has more bass... I can’t find a definitive answer...

Again, I’m referring to a current K702, new, made in China, not early ones made in Austria.
