Hey, I'm beginning to make/mod my own headphones but I would like a method of testing besides just my own two ears, I've used audacity to give a simple representation of a frequency response graph for a set of speakers, but I would like  some kind of software to give a bit better representation of the sound coming from my headphones. I'm using my own diy set up of microphones on a jig plugged right to the input jack of my computer, not the highest quality of sound but should give me a basic representation of what I need to know. I just need some software to process things like distortion or a csd waterfall graph. Cheaper software/freeware would be better but I'm interested in anything that could help me with the systems I'm working on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using calibrated mics? Otherwise, your measurements are likely off.

Use REW room acoustics software. Free to use.

The community there can tell you everything you need in terms of accurate equipment for measuring speakers. Not sure about headphones, though :)
