I finally figured out how to get Crossfeed and system wide EQ for free on the Mac! It's a little involved, but once set up, it works. I wrote up the instructions on a Word on-line (free access) document here:

It's quite possible there are better ways to do what I did, so please leave comments this this thread. Also, the Canz3D component might also work, but you may have to force AU Labs to be 32 bit (in the Finder's Get Info).

Hope someone finds this useful.

Gonna try this free plug in and see how it works. Also might try SonarWorks

A simple system-wide equalizer is eq2mac. Works well.
It's OK, but quite buggy. I tried it for a while, but too many bugs. It would stop working sometimes, or it would turn the volume up to ear splitting levels occasionally, or just add distortion. Even the author agrees, and is completely rewriting it from scratch. That said, if it works for you, that's all that matters.

For me, I'm less looking for global eq (I get that with a loki) as I am looking for AU plugins; specifically crossfeed.
