if it runs android, adding a secundary media player app which will play flac, ogg and use UMS insted of the imposed creative MTP sync should be possible,

the question is, how open is "plazma" towards android apps,

"I'm listening to an egg"
"I dropped my egg =("
"How to use this device in an eggshell"
terrible name yeah..

Now that the portable music player makers have caught on to the "entire life in the palm of your hands" thing, it looks like a grim future =x

This certainly sounds interesting. I'm especially liking that expandable memory slot. If it all works out and turns out to be a good device, I may just have to buy it.

Not diggin' that name though.

Yep, name is stupefyingly stupid. I mean there's so many comparative and cooler sounding names they could have gone with like Embryo, Origin, Spore, even Seed would have been better but no.

Judging from Creative's old history that expandable memory slot will almost certainly not integrate with the library, and will be practically useless.

Actually 1 of the things that's great about this player IS the sdHC library integration. Finally, Creative is giving people what they want. Me, this will be my next player - if it goes commercial, as ATM this is for developers only.

the name is not something important here since if you are not a manufacturer you will not be able to buy this, so complaining about the name is just useless.

The new Zii will probably have wav support and other codecs once it is released.

Awesome. Price is sweet too, if it can support flac or ape, that would be better.

My concern will be the IC chip it is using, if it is just old chip like its ancestor x-fi, that is like pouring cold water on me

Sony X vs egg, if sound quality is alike, I would go for egg, FULLHD output, better video format support, camera.........

First post!

Just thought i'd add, even though the zii egg is advertised as a developers kit, anyone can order one, i asked the reps about it and they just said to leave the fields blank when asked about your company.

I have one on pre-order and i'll be sure to take pictures when i get it.

Another thing to note is, even though they are shipping it with the 'plaszma' os, with the developers kit, you can install a fully featured version of Android on it, which, as stated before, will allow you to install a third party app to handle the flac.
