Tested on my Creative Zen Xtra using RMAA.
Recorded using an Audigy 2 Standard, Radioshack shielded 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
Unaltered test files 44kHz test files, recorded in 48kHz mode to avoid resampling. "Record without monitoring" option enabled in the Audigy control panel.

Comparison:
Creative Zen Xtra on batteries
Creative Zen Xtra w/wallwart
Creative Zen Xtra w/wallwart + ferrite choke on the wallwart

Feel free to draw your own conclusions

88 dB SNR?

The results can't be too perfect as it's an Audigy, not the best for recording.. but that's still low for a full sized DAP. I guess you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the test.

Sure thing.

I think the 88 SNR can be attributed to the fact that the volume was set to 21/25 for testing purposes. I didn't want to attenuate through the software and possibly stress the amp in the Xtra.

88 is is pretty good consider the iaduio 4 is supposed to have a real world performance of 80 db
