Hello guys,

I was on here a while ago asking for what headphones to get! I ended up getting the Audio Technica a900's and I love them. Thanks.

Now I'm looking to get a new sound card for my main computer.

Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series

Show here: Tekheads.co.uk

Only things that are worring me is that on the front plate it says:
"Headphone output with volume control via 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) stereo jack"

The a900 has a 3mm jack, would I need a adapter? Is this correct?

If so would it be a good idea to get one, can you get loss less adapters?

I'm guessing it will work fine on Vista? Creative ALchemy is now free and that's suppose to let it work fine with Vista correct? Does it sound just as good/doesn't slow down performance to much?

Thanks ever so much guys, really appreciate it!

The cheapest and easiest solution is a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. I'm surprised your headphones didn't come with one.

Ah thanks! I checked with my dad to see if it was in the box (in loft) and it wasn't. So I had a look in some other places and found it. It's very similar to the one pictured just a little different in some areas. I thought it would screw on but it's just a tight push fit.

How much sound quality would be lost out of using this? Compared to none?

Thanks very much!

So small that it wouldn't be perceived. The difference is barely measurable.

Okay good to know, I've got a small bit where the gold has scratched off somehow! Hope it doesn't effect it much.

Can anyone comment on the Vista software etc?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Do you mean I should go for a different sound card? The adapter I got now should fit the sound card fine. It's got a slight patch where the gold coating has rubbed off. (About 2mm square)
