Hello everyone.

I recently have bought a Muvo TX SE player (1 GB version, without radio). As a sound purist, and despite the contradiction between MP3 music and purism (portability oblige), one of the first things I noted was a "buzz", a noise, always present when the player is working. That buzz is audible when the volume is in a low setting and in the silence that happens when the music changes to another (always providing the exterior noise is low). I know that these players have a problem of this type when the backlight is on, but the noise of mine is constant and is not aggravated by the backlight. So, my question is if this type of noise is characteristic of these players. Is it?

Regards.

Have you tried other headphones?. It could be a impedance compatibility problem.

I'm currently using AKG K12P headphones and I tried some other ones, like the crap ones that came with the player, with the same results. I also tried these headphones with another MP3 player (a Muvo 64 MB, without screen) and I have not heard the noise.

I believe there are two separate issues going on here:

1. blacklight buzz - It is a known hardware issue with the Muvo TX flash players that there is a noticeable buzz sound when the backlight is on. I believe some have recommended disabling the backlight to avoid this. You can visit Creative Labs's forum for updated information regarding this.

2. low impedance/sensitivity phones - earphones and earbuds will more often than not have a static sound in the background of the music because they are so sensitive. You'll find earphones can pick up static from many sources from soundcards to flash players. A lot of people don't notice this because they use their players outdoors with ambient noise, or the music that they play doesn't have a lot of quiet passages so it's not noticeable at all.

With the same sensitive phones, some sources will give off louder static sound than others.

If you have a higher impedance can like a Koss KSC75/35 clip-on (60 ohms, iirc) you should cease to hear the background static during music.

I dunno but I have a 256MB muvo TX with a screen that I've used almost every day for a year and is no problem with noise etc. I have heard comments from some people with similar problems with bigger/newer muvos than mine though...

Thank you for your answer. I will browser the Creative's forum as you suggested.

About the noise, well, I suppose you are right and all the equipments have some kind of noise, more or less noticeable, when listened with certain headphones. But, and I did a direct compare, the Muvo N200 with the same headphones do not produce the noise that the TX produces. Has the TX SE an inferior hardware or mine is faulty? Here is what I am trying to discover.
