i use the small case from the e4's that i sent back in for replacement with my e500s. 2 finger wrap and the short extension cable fit perfectly

The round case is great...except for the spool. My friend got E2cs and he used the spool and the wire messed up on him. What I did with my circle case from the E3cs was take the spool out, use the two/three finger wrap, and just stick it in. Works brilliantly and never had a problem with the zipper either.

It works perfectly for me, I assume your case has a fabric problem or something.

I probably should lubricate the zipper with wax or something...

the zipper on my e500 case was also a bit tricky to maneuver. however, i found that if i tug gently outward while zipping, it goes fine. i hope that makes sense, but it does get stuck if i'm only pulling in the one direction or the other without pulling out on the zipper a bit.
