I've been using my HD-668B's for a few months and just yesterday, I noticed that both bands have a crack on the top. Has anyone seen anything like this?
It's nothing to worry about. There's a solid metal rod inside that plastic "cover", so it won't stop working or break completely.
It happened to my first SR850 (the same headphone by samson), I flexed the headband too much since the pressure on my head was unbearable, and the plastic broke just like yours.
I know it still works normally but it's kind of lame that they would build such a cheap (quality) headphone. I mean, I guess that's what you get when the headphone is inexpensive.
. I had a pair of 681's (nearly identical design of the samson) and the clamping pressure was really bad and I bent the rods but I never got a single crack in them.
And hey they are $50 and built pretty good for that price. At least they aren't falling apart
