Cover Flow on iPod

I hope it supports older versions of the iPod, like the 5G or 5.5G, not just whatever new iPod comes out this year

It'll be a miracle if the scroll goes as fast as the video suggests, I have enough trouble with lag scrolling through my normal menus.

The reason why I like coverflow (and would like it implemented on the iPod) is because it gives a "real" feeling to the music. Back in the day (in the era of the CD) I used to search by album art. It would be great to have that feeling back.

Picking out music from a list just isn't right

it's like being in a used cd store and flicking through the bins to see whats there. Looks like a fun option but not very efficient if you already know what you're looking for.

I agree with this. I thought CoverFlow would be a gimmick, but once I added album art to all my albums in iTunes, I found that I use it a lot for choosing music to listen to. There's just something natural about choosing an album rather than clicking a song from a lengthy list of songs.

That said, I think the CoverFlow-on-current-iPods story was shown to be a hoax. The iPhone does have CoverFlow though.

That's obviously fake. Some guy simply captured a video of coverflow and uploaded it to the ipod and then faked the scrolling.

I dont know ipod videos but when you press the center button during a video, does it usually go to an album? You know, like when the guy clicked on stadium arcadium and it went to that song list?
Granted, that could have been faked too, but only with far far more work than your comment suggested.

My Powerbook G4 can hardly do cover flow smoothly. Granted, there's a lot more overhead, but I'll be really impressed if an iPod is able to do it.....

*brings post back from the dead*

I saw this a while ago (diggnation) and had watched it after. I re watched it recently, and must say this looks incredibly fake.

I can, however, say that this will probably be on the next gen ipod/iphone.
