I am relatively new to MP3 players and have recently purchased one, a Phillips Go Gear 8 GB unit from Walmart, it looks just like this one here, Philips SA6086 8-GB GoGear Flash Audio/ Video MP3 Player from Overstock.com

Anyway, using headphones it sounds good and volume control is okay.

But plugging it into the AUX jack of the radio in my truck ( stock radio in a 2008 Toyota Tundra ) it isn't loud enough, even with the player and the trucks radios volumes both at max.

I also tried this in my airplane, plugged into the aux jack on my intercom that is set up to play music. There it too isn't loud enough.

I wonder what my options are, and should I consider a different player and give this one to my wife? Thanks, Ron

Thank you for your reply, I was hoping with so many people on this site I would get tons of replies helping me pick a solution to my problem.

Besides a booster or amp, are all MP3 players somewhat weak in volume output?

I suspect that not too many people here are familiar with the philips player. I couldn't guess if it has weak or typical output.

I have used several different players (sansa and creative) with the aux-in jack of a car stereo. They provided usable volume once the player volume was up at 100%.

Try attaching a FiiO E3 or E5. This should resolve your problem without spending too much out of your pocket.
