I have the Grado 225s and while they sound really good from my laptop (And I mean that in a relative sense since these are my first headphones that cost more than 10$), I feel like they could sound truely epic with a guitar amp. I'm getting a Roland Microcube ampflier in a few days and I want to try this out, but I'm scared of messing up the headphones. I'm not very smart and I don't really understand how most of this stuff works.

Basically I want to hook up my laptop/ipod/music source to the amp and listen to it through the grados. I'd also like to know if I can do this with my guitar. Thanks and I'm sorry i'm really clueless.

I tried it with my ad700 headphones in my line 6 spider III 15 watt amp. It works but there is lots of noise. You are better off just listening straight out of the computer or soundcard.

I tried through the guitar input and the cd player/music input on the amp. Both had lots of noise.

Oh, so I guess it isn't a very good idea then. Guess my guitar amp shouldn't be used for for headphone related stuff then..

It won't damage the headphones.

Some practice amps have cleaner outputs than others - something standalone like a pod will probably sound much better, though.

Guitar amps typically have really, really high gain... so for your typical headphones it'll introduction lots of noise and you can't really control the volume well. Just stick with the laptop.
