Update number 2:
I was finally able to get the USB to fit properly, had to really press it in there. But I still find myself wondering why I got it. After spending some time with it over the holiday I could not tell too much difference between the iPod and cowon sound wise. Anyone want to buy a cowon?

Apple's iPod and iPhone have sound quality as good as the best standalone CD players. I could have told you that before you bought another DAP.
