I have a FiiO X3 music file player. It's not bad sounding at all just a little dty. There is plenty of gain with my earbuds but my AKG712s sound much better. [ better stage image for one thing.] The 712s ohm out at 57.8 and 59 ohms reading sleeve to tip and sleeve to ring. I have to crank the level up to max to get in the right gain area.
Does anyone have opinions on this little amp i.e. it's gain with the AKG load I have read the reviews and caveats. One reviewer who assembled the kit said there wasn't much gain with 60 ohm load. He said that people with higher impedence head phone would get more gain. I don't understand that. Why would a larger load yield more head room? But I'm not a tech guy. I have a band mate that will help with the assy if need be. There is an explanation of the wiring in the reviews.
