So I don't know much about DAC's or amps. But let me try this to see if I'm correct about how to do it.
Schiit Modi-Connected via Optical to my HDTV
Using this cable,plug the RCA into the Modi and the 3.5 end to the E11

Plug my headphones into the E11. Or the Schiit. Which is it? And does it work like that?

I guess the answer is yes.
Not sure what else the E11 could be used for.

And for future reference,just any amp like the Magni or Vali is connected RCA to RCA?

Good news is my experience with schiit modi and fiio E11 is better than good,although i use ATH M40X if you do not want to invest in a better amp,fiio+Modi combo does definitely sound better than whatever onboard you where using.
