is there a superior way of hooking up the two or pretty much only one way? it's specifically for laptop use and the compass will be hooked up to the laptop via spdif.

a5's (for example)

i'm not set on a5's, but is the hookup the same for all generally? just want to know what cables are used and what plugs into where. also ideas on speakers with a budget of $500 or $600 would be appreciated.

make sure the active monitors you select have an rca-in, and youll be set. some only have XLR or TRS inputs, but a simple adapter can fix that too. really, you have nothing to worry about. even cheap speakers with a minijack input can be connected, via adapter

id recommend VXT4's, which would run you $600. absolutely stunning, and a good size compliment to a laptop
