Hi guys, apologies if this is the wrong forum.

I connect my headamp to a Yamaha HT receiver via the receiver's analog outs. I watch movies exclusively on headphones nowadays, and the Yamaha's headphone jack has lots of static.

Problem is, when playing a movie with DTS, I don't get any sound from the headamp. Is it because the digital DTS stream is not being transported via the analog outs? Is there any setting or connection that can fix this?

The source is a hard-disk based media player, and it doesn't downconvert DTS streams. I have to connect it to my yamaha first via coaxial. Otherwise I would have bypassed the yamaha completely and connected the headamp to the source.

Hi, I am not an expert in this, but it sounds from your description like your Yamaha HT receiver might not have a built-in DTS decoder and that it cannot otherwise handle a DTS signal. Alternatively, you might have to go into a menu on the Yamaha and set it to play DTS as a Dolby Digital bitstream, PCM, or otherwise. Good luck.
