I have an EMU 0404 USB and I want to hook up a turntable to it and record. The turntable has RCA output (red and white) and I believe the EMU 0404 USB can input two RCA. Would I be able to plug the turntable directly into the EMU 0404 USB to record from the turntable or would I need some other hardware? I also tried this with my XBOX 360 by plugging in the RCA (didn't get any output or anything) and optical (I could hear the output using headphones on the EMU 0404 but couldn't get audition to record)

Yes (+ 2 x

Female RCA to 1/4" Mono Plug adapters).

That's the way I have it connected.
Gain you get from 0404 Hi-Z inputs is high enough so you don't need to add gain in software (though, this isn't harmful either if/since it's 24-bit input signal you get through E-MU ASIO).

I recommend the v. 1.8 for Max/MSP 5.x.
