Im new to using amps and was wondering do I even need an amp/dac combo with an ath-a700 and xfi-fatality sound card?

If I was to use an amp/dac combo does this go through my sound card or how does it work?

I was looking at the penguinamp and a penguinamp dac cable.

Hello,

DAC is like an external sound card. It bypasses the internal sound card and uses amp's Digital to Analog Converter instead:

PC > (usb cable) > DAC part > amp part > headphone.

I also am wondering if I need a DAC (like one on Corda 2Move or iBasso D3 Python) with my Audigy 2 ZS and Sennheiser HD25-1, but as far as I looked up those DAC's are much better than Creative sound cards'.
