I've been considering getting the Total Airhead to use in conjunction with my ipod via line out. I'd like to grab a pair of HD580's right now as well, but I'm concerned about their performance with the TAH. Seems like half the posts I read say the HD580's sound just fine with it using the gain switch, and the other half seems to trash the combo. I currently have a HD555 which I know the TAH would be able to drive just fine. Should I wait until I can afford a nicer amp to get the HD580's? I know they won't be driven to their absolute full potential with the TAH, but is it at least close?
