seems like we keep jumping between the relevance of various digitized formats, and the relevance of specific (I say "specific", although no components have as of yet been specified) audio components that reproduce those formats into sound. Well, the ipod has a Wolfson WM8758 DAC, which has a max sampling rate of 192, 90db thd and a 100db snr. How does the Sony stack up to that?

in the article the rh1 was jus a notch under the Sony MDS-JE480,

the latters specs are 1-Bit DAC, 1-Bit Sigma-Delta ADC (24 bit sampling), Frequency Response: 5-20kHz +/-0.3dB, SNR >96dB

i read that mdcf post, that's for the mic pre-amp not the output dac, which is more relevant to this lot here.

that's why i posted the above stats
