Condenser mic for...

Condensers on booms can be cumbersome, especially if your stand (like mine) isn't the sturdiest. I've got an AKG Perception 200 that I use for recording vocals and narration, but it's sitting in its case, unused at the moment as it's a pain in the royal arse to set it up for anything else. It's a gorgeous-sounding microphone, especially for what I paid, but I feel like it finds less use than I intended when I bought it. It's also a shade of baby blue that at first revolted me but which now I kind of like.

I'll add a plus one on phantom power--it's usually if not always a necessity with condenser mics (at least the non-USB ones). Oh, and please, please, PLEASE don't skimp on the pop filter! YES you DO NEED one!
