Yeah, the K1000 has a larger soundstage than the K340. Still, the instrument seperation and imaging of the K340's can't be beat by any headphone that I have heard.

I think a large part of the 3D imaging has to do with the fact that instruments and voices are given more weight, i.e. it is not simply strings on a violin or acoustic guitar but you can hear the body of the instrument, the resonances of the various wood bodies. I can get this on some of my better home audio set-ups but this is so far the only headphone that gets it right. That's not to say that I won't buy a K1000 when I get a chance as I am having trouble stopping with the 7 new headphones I have purchased since January of this year.

Now that is a very good way of putting one of the things I love about the K340's. Nice work.

In order for anyone to answer this question with accuracy, he/ she would have to have heard the K340 and almost every other high-end headphone out there.

From my experience, having never heard the K340, I'd say that the Omega II is a step beyond the K1000 when it comes to horizontal soundstaging and imaging.

It has better, and a bit more soundstaging than my K340, and is probably about even with phil's(

Hmmm... well, I guess I will have to hear it to believe it. I can't really concieve of how a Grado could have as much soundstaging as the K340. What about its imaging?
