Well, my PC finally crashed and everything got wiped last night, so i'm starting all over today. everything is good except one thing. when i try to play music in mediamonkey i get a pop-up error that says:

Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.
Error code: 88780078

i am technologically dumb. anyone know what this means or how to help?

if your soundcard is stock (meaning it's came with/is part of your motherboard), the (motherboard's) manufacturer site will usually have the drivers. And make sure you know the exact model of your board.

you should check the website anyways, the drivers that come with your pc are often outdated.

usually if you know atleast the model of your motherboard. you can go to manyfacturer website and look at the specification of your motherboard. it will list the model of all the harddrive inside the motherboard. so yo know the exact model of the onboard card. usually the manu website have the driver, or not, go to tha manu website of the onboard card itself.

computer wouldnt just crash and all your data got wipe. unless there is something physically wrong with your harddrive, the data get corrupted and cant be repair, or some very virus.

so if that happen. i would leave the harddrive that cannot boot alone, dont format or do anythign to it. put it into another computer and see if you can transfer the files.
