Well time to take a break from audio...

So I need help in which LCD is the best... looking for a 17" one under $1000, any ideas out there?

To my knowlege, there's only one, the Samsung 760v..

its a no-frills design, with decent image quality but doesn't have any of the cool features of more expensive screens, like digital interface. Also, it takes up a LOT of room for an LCD (though that's still much less than a CRT)

Hands down the best 17" LCD under $1000 is the Apple Studio Display:

The only problem is that if you're on a PC, you need an adapter since it uses the Apple Display Connector (display, power, and USB) in a single cable. The adapter is about $100.

Plenty of budget ones out there...

Try AOC, Hansol, Viewsonic, Samsung (already mentioned but they're good) and Dicon.
