complex simplicity

I'm saying complexity has little to do with anything.

I'm saying there isn't an objective means of measuring it.

I'm saying that classical music isn't complex.

I'm saying we all like different things for an almost infinite variety of reasons.

I'm saying we cannot extrapolate from personal preference to general rules about the worth of music.

I'm saying that complexity offers just as much potential for paucity in musical communication as it does richness.
