I like the all-in-one DAC/Amp solution. I like both USB and optical inputs to use with computer and high end CD/DVD. I like the portability as I can't afford to get one for the office and another for the bedroom. However, I can't really afford even one, at $1,000. And it's hard to justify paying over three times than what I paid for my AKG K701 cans, or $200 more than a high quality Emotiva XPA-5 amp for the living room system, or nearly as much as a MacBook.

Is there anything like the HeadRoom Portable Desktop amp for less?

I found one. Keces DA-152, $475. It's an improvement. It only has USB, like the PS Audio-G, but at half the price. Not portable but I could live with that.

Keces DA-152, $450, PCM2702 DAC
Meier Audio Corda Catante, $460, PCM2702 DAC
PS Audio GCHA, $995
HeadRoom Portable Desktop, $999, coax & optical
Meier Audio Corda Symphony, $1,310, Wolfson WM8741 DAC, coax & optical

I can't find info on what DAC the PS Audio GCHA uses. HeadRoom I think custom makes theirs? From what I can tell, the Keces DA-152 and Corda Catante are similar, except the Catante has a unique look. However, is the Wolfson WM8741 really so much better that it's worth more than double the price?
