If this has been answer sorry, but what do the tips cost?

$119 from Earphone Solutions + Cost of impressions (20 for the molding material + 50 for an audiologist to do it for you)
UM56 Custom Sleeves for Westone 3, UM2, UM1, SCL3, SCL5, SCL4

There's also:
PerfectFit(TM) Optional Accessory For Any Brand of Isolation Earphones
Perfect Your Isolation Earphone System: Add Custom Fitted Ear Molds! - Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Isolation Earphones
<font color=r

The impression kit is free and you can do it yourself, but to have a pro do it will cost $50 as well.

Thanks for this fantastic review. I really enjoyed it. If i want to get the UM56, can I deal directly with Westone or it is mandatory to do it through an authorized audiologist/dealer. Since I'm outside the US and there is no Westone dealer here i wonder. I have a post address in the US I can use for them to ship.

It's best to deal with someone local. That is how we are setup. PM me and I'll see if I can find someone for you to deal with.

Thanks a lot, I'll think I'll do it through Earphone Solutions. Just one question: the type of impressions that I need for the UM56 are the same that would be required for a full custom monitor (i.e. ES3X)? I have done full ear impressions previously (for my UE11) with a local audiologist and it worked perfectly.

Same type of impressions.

Can they be made in something besides the vinyl? Like the heat sensitive material used with the ES3X?

Silicone is the other material we use. With the small size of a UM56, the heat sensitive material would not give any benefit. It has to have a "pivot point" like the joint on an ES product to be of that benefit.

I can recommend the silicone, very comfortable; the problems I had were unrelated to the material itself but the hole in the back and would be easily remedied if a smaller hole was used. there were issues I wont go into here that have nothing to do with the quality of the westone product.

I was thinking that one, I don't really care for vinyl and two the heat sensitive material would allow for that last bit of conforming to the ear, which is what you get with the ES3X series. Pivot point?

So, if you request silicon, can it be made with it? My understanding (although I may be wrong) is that ACS uses silicon.

In Denver I can get them "out the door" for $110. That's the Westone tips and the impressions, from a local audiologist. Starkey earmolds are less than that.

That is the same price I was supposed to pay for my UM56 in Colorado Springs at a Beltone Hearing Center. But since I had recently done three sets of $30 impressions for Livewires (1st set, free refit and a second pair of LW) he charged me only $70 for the UM56.
