I will keep both. The e-q7 has always piqued my interest, but there is always the Monster Copper that I can listen to at anytime. I am pretty good for now. I just need to take a break from here soon before my mind changes.

I'm not in the market for new audio gear... yet. My summer internship status is iffy, but if I can get a paid one, I might be in the hunt for something truly high end. I love the look of the CK10s way more the CK100s and RE0s. Still searching for a neutral IEM with exaggerated bass impact (not quantity) and ever-so-slightly forward mids. I definitely can't live without extended highs either, and I've never heard truly extended bass, but why not that as well. Cloth cord + CK10 design + those characteristics would be perfect. Haven't heard the CK10s amped, so they're still in consideration (IMO, the RE0 has slighty lighter, sloppier bass quantity, but surely more impact being dynamics). Hmmm, how hard is it to fit a cloth wrap and heat-shrink it to fit?

I thought you hated cloth cables? The CK10 has just slightly more bass quantity and impact than the RE0 (amped) to my ears.

Only the one on your G5. I prefer the friction so that the cable stays in the same place when ran under my shirt. RE0's PPE is durable, but very slippery. I also don't want a thick cable and don't anticipate any microphonics in this situation. It also just feels classier. I guess a transparent, braided cable might be a prettier, more practical option.

Damn those three words. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm sure you won't be surprised that I trust my ears over yours

Let me be more specific: with Sony Hybrids, RE0's impact > CK10's impact. Stock tips... no clue.

I guess we all have different ears. I found that the RE0 impact and amount of bass is less than the CK10 as well. I use triple flange on the CK10 however and was never able to do that with the RE0

Added a Mods/DIY section to the second post. Gotta love the search engine! So far, only one brave soul.

I am also planning to swap the filters on my CK10 with the Etys in a month or two to see how it changes the sound, if any at all. I will also put up a how-to guide on replacing filters while I'm at it. Not guaranteed but will probably happen.

@Hung0702:

Some Advice
3) ...Be as realistic as possible. cloth cables + ck10 design + your preferred sound...

5) Above all, trust your own ears the most.

I remember reading somewhere that someone did exactly that with the ety filters and didn't notice much difference.

Although consider there wasnt any filter changing tool or filters i dont think they are really meant to be changed. i can't see anything getting in the filters really since they are that small.

Japanese is not my language, so I used Google to translate what another Japanese owner did. I ended up misinterpreting what the result was. KLS said that the owner heard an increase in bass and tamer highs. I doubt it will change the sound much, but no harm in trying since I already have the filters.

I really don't see any problems with the filters, but someone else might come across a situation where a filter replacement might be needed in the future. Whether to send it in to Audio Technica, pay about $20, and wait a couple of weeks to get it fixed or do it themselves. It might come in handy or it might not. I just thought a guide to replacing filters would be nice. (might as well kill two birds with one stone)

My review is a summary of my first week (30-40 listening hours, Lol) with them.  I wanted to post my thoughts before I became too familiar with them.

Critique/discussion is welcome.

Nice review but I don't think AwakenedBeing posts here anymore so it can't be added to the list

Another ck10 and ck100 evaluation, sonove

Wow! That is some major bass rolloff from the ck100. I know the reviews lead one to think that they are bass light, but the FR graph implies that the bass is very nearly inaudible below 100Hz.

Nov 13, 2010 at 9:11 PM Post #44 of 50
I mentioned in another thread but I don't agree with that graph one bit for a couple of reasons. The CK90PRO has more bass than the CK10 and from that graph they are basically indistinguishable which is not the case if you hear them both. The bass extension of the CK100 also is better than the graph indicates. It also has a very noticeable forward midrange which is not the case in the graph. I remember the big peak of the CK10 to be a bit earlier but can't remember the specific range.

I wouldn't trust that frequency graph for a second. I have A/B all 3 at the same time and that graph is nothing like what I heard.

Nov 14, 2010 at 3:15 PM Post #45 of 50
I feel the CK10 sounds very similiar to how the graph indicates, it's the first IEM I've used I hardly ever tamper with the eq, and that is really something!, for me.

I can't comment on the CK100 and CK90PRO, however if you boost them by 10dB in the graph, they match your description quite well, rawrster.  I agree eq graphs are all to be taken with a pinch of salt, and have rather little impact on the overall sound signature, but I think sonoves graphs seem pretty good, and if I'm not mistaken he puts the microphone quite deep in his ear-canal. =p
