Compaq Deskpro (5200MMX) CPU Upgrade

The most recent BIOS version for that Deskpro 5200 is now six years old. Its build date was December 10, 1998 - before AMD even came out with its K6-III. As such, the latest BIOS version for that old Compaq will not support the K6-III at all.

They assume that your system can even boot up at all with that K6-III. But they're of no help whatsoever if your system will not boot up at all with such a CPU.

I think I'll still buy one though...(I have ANOTHER Socket 7 PC that is guranteed to work, some Foxxconn MB, really noisy)
