I guess it's a combination of both. I don't need the absolute greatest sounding headphones ever...and at a comparable price I would sacrifice sound (as long as the differences aren't drastic) for size and comfort.
The Bose seem to be the perfect headphone in terms of both size and comfort and, based on my limited time, they had nice sound. I did try out the Denon 1100 and I was not impressed at all. I actually liked the Bose AE2's more.
I'm not dead set on buying the Bose headphones though but I'm trying to find the best possible headphones for that size/portability.
