Colorfly C3 Discussion Thread

Hi,

Does the C3 indicate when the battery is fully charged?  I know that the manual says to charge it for 12 hours when using for the first time in order to maximize the life of the battery.  I'm charging it right now for the second time and it's been over 10 hours but it hasn't indicated that charging is complete yet.  How long does it need to be charged typically?

when the bar is full? 10 hours is a long time to charge , you should be fine

I would try a different charger. 10 hours is too long, maybe the voltage isn't quite reaching cut off point. I've experienced this with other devices/chargers.

Sad day at my house! Somehow got a dent on my C3 screen! Still works but is not pristine any longer.

How does it compare to smartphones like lg v10 or axon 7?

The same way a Toyota would compare to a Porsche...

Are those smartphones that much better than c3?Have you personally compared them or just assuming?

I think Troll Dragon did mean it jokingly with C3 being ahead , but to be fair I think Sulbh is talking about these newer fandango sultana smartphones hitting the market with audio specs. Smartphones are putting up some fight recently here, some have thier own threads.

.

My experience of smartphones to date (and not necessarily the higher end ones) is that they all seem to lack sufficient volume for my ears. The last phone I had I had to root and alter the 'mixer_paths' file to lift the volume limits that they all seem to impose, once done they start replicating volumes similar to what you can buy from the mp3 player market. It's a pain, and rooting can be problematic, which is why I kinda stay away from using a phone as my main audio player.
I have a hard time judging sound quality unless I can get the thing to reach a volume (usually pretty loud) so that I can hear if it's able to hold that volume without distortion etc to what I'm used to hearing etc.
I put phones in a similar category of sound quality to Cowon players, that is they sometimes to my ears sound 'softwareish' in sound signature, meaning somewhat 'artificial'. It's not that they're bad or anything, and with Cowon you (usually) get massive volumes + a huge array of DSPs to play with that can sound really fun, and highly customsisable so that you can get that cold or warm signature, whatever floats your boat.
With something basic like the C3 or AP100 or Alien Shozy the sound feels more 'hardwarish', that is more basic, but stronger/powerful... I dunno it's hard to explain. And not all mp3 players are equal in power of volume, the C3 is my weakest > Alien Shozy (mid) > Ap100 (last, very powerful) in terms of power/volume output. The power means a lot to me as I usually shuffle and tend to impose somekind of replaygain across my entire music so I reach for the volume button less often than necessary.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes that's true about average smartphones but I am interested in so called audiophile smartphones which have dedicated DAC.

Smartphones play an important role in portable audio though for their transport capabilities, get some really great sound running them from USB out with all the versatility of your smartphone speed, screen, etc.

One of my set-ups running to the Tralucent DacAmp One with a Galaxy S4

For sound alone though I don't use them from thier headphone out . Rather my DX200 for that. Still say these days the better bang for buck player is iBasso DX90. Pick them up used now for $200 USD, $250 AUD. Keep your eye out on eBay.

Guys does anyone on this forum uses C3 & walnut V2 as an amp with C3?
If yes who those two sound together?

I'll be able to answer that shortly, the walnut has arrived in my country, hopefully in my hands before the week is out.
Thanks man i have ordered walnut too but i can cancel that order during the week depending on your info and your overall impressions with C3 and maybe go after a toppingNX1 or a bluebird amp
Waiting for your first impressions with anticipation, and for the record recently have been very disappointed having discovered that trinity PM4 isnt a good pair with C3
