I´m listening the new Coldplay album (the CD version). I don't know if it is a good album, But the mastering OMG!!! at times it is almost inaudible!! No Dynamics, too loud... "EVERGLOW" its the best example all of that. (without mentioning those horrible "Hip-Hop Beats")

It sounds over compressed, not pleasant to listen to at all and Im listening to the 24bit hires version. Some of the tunes I really like but I cant listen to it. Its like someone is using a cheese grater on my ear drums.
 
Amazing Day is a particularly bad example and yes Everglow too. Also Birds is so bad it makes me angry.

According to the DR Database, its normal for Coldplay albums. Its probably why they are successful, the masses think the music sounds great louder.

I didn't know there was a database for dynamic range. I see this album gets a very bad score.
That's interesting thanks. I think I will consider that before buying albums in future.

No problem, somebody else posted a link here, just passing the info on. I knew about the DR issue before but a recent post regarding Adele's new album mentioned the database. It scores very badly too BTW.
