Just wondering, as I'm still new to the whole Head-Fi scene. Do coiled cables have a real improvement over standard 3.5mm audio cables. I ask because out and about it looks really weird having this huge cable sticking out and I was looking to see if I could just purchase a standard 3.5mm gold plated audio jack.

I think coiled would put more strain on the cable itself resulting in poorer performance. That's just my guess though.

I can't imagine any benefits, unless the coiled cable was a better quality cable to begin with. Coiled cables are like that to facilitate storing a long cable that could get in the way, not for SQ reasons, I'm pretty sure.

Alright thanks! I'll be purchasing a normal audio cable tomorrow so I don't have to keep plugging in a little adapter for my iPhone.
