A DAC won't produce subjective qualities. It can only produce physical sound with a certain degree of fidelity. Therefore, deciding which DAC to buy is a matter of figuring out which DAC produces sound of sufficient fidelity and finding the features and user interface you prefer. Whether or not it makes you happy inside won't affect how well the DAC does its job, and music is a lot better at making people happy than boxes full of diodes and wires are. If a DAC can make you happy, it's probably because it's more convenient and useful, not how good it sounds. It can only make you unhappy because the fidelity is too low for your use. Luckily, that doesn't pose much of a problem with modern home audio.
