As we all know, wma takes up more battery power then mp3 format.
But does the ogg format use up more battery power then mp3??

Also depending on what bitrate you use, does it affect the battery life??
e.g 192kbps,160,128, etc

What bitrate do you guys recommend for me, i got an, iaudio
m3 which can produce some wicked sound with the right formats and bitrates.

Cheers

Yes, bitrate does affect battery life. Ogg eats up more than mp3.

As for recommendations, I say for mp3, go at least 192. For OGG, q6 (maybe overkill/underkill for some people). I don't use WMA, I dislike very much. The higher bitrate the better, but you probably won't notice too much of a difference anyway. You can go lossless, but that may be considered overkill.

Hi,

I use --alt preset extreme %s %d with the lame 3.90.3 MP3-Decoder (as included in the highly recommendable "EAC Bundle 1.3" which also includes decoders and presets for MPC, OGG, FLAC etc. pp). Thereby you get V(ariable) B(it) R(ate) files around 230 bit/s which is just fine for me - they sound almost like the original CD WAV files. Don´t care to much about file size. Quality comes first...
