I finished up my CMoy amp recently and it was working fine outside the altoids tin. Once I put it in the tin and closed the lid the right channel would stop working. I thought it was a short due to solder points touching on the bottom of the board or the input/output terminals, but after lining it with electrical tape (except the top actually…) it still cuts out when closing it. Why would this happen and how can I fix it?

If it works perfectly fine outside of the case I would have to say its still a short or a loose connection.

lining the entire top of the case seems to have fixed it, but now it's incredibly hard to open... ah well

Seems somthing was hitting the top of your case then...

it shouldn't be nessecary to line the whole thing with tape, just figure out which component is touching and electrical tape that, or just the spot above that component.

I don't know what could be sticking up to high as to short to the top though... maybe some pics could help?
