Hey all. I love my Grado SR225s but I am finding that they may not be the perfect solution at work as they leak quite a bit and there is quite a lot of noise from computer fans and people chatting, etc. I was just wondering what are some good closed 'phones in the range of $100-$200? I mostly listen to indie rock, instrumental rock, and to a lesser extent, classical. I've got a go-vibe to use at work as a headphone amp.

Some headphones I am already interested in are the audio technica a500/a900, AKG K271S, Beyerdynamic DT250-80... anything else you would recommend?

For about $100 I really like my Sony V6s.
Excellent bass extention although some find the midrange a bit dry.
(ie. not colored like most cans)

They can get a bit hot if worn for an extended period.

For $100, you should go for A-T A500's... for $200, A-T A900 is great... however, they don't sound like your Grados. Nothing really does, Grados have their specific sound signature that no one else even attempts to mimic (flat and collapsed soundstage, in particular). Try the A-T's and see if you end up liking them more.

The Sony V6 isn't worth $100, you should be able to find them around $70~$60.

True.
I paid $70 for mine.

I actually think having a closed 'phone that was different than my grados would be cool. Variation is always good.

As for the A500's, can you tell me how they compare to the d66 eggos? Those are what I have right now and would like to replace. The best thing I like about the eggos is the soundstage.

It'll give those Eggos a nice little handy beat-down... although I think A900 is significantly better, where A500 is just somewhat better. The frontal imaging of the A500 leaves a little to be desired, causing a more horizontal soundstage rather than the full "sphere" effect. A900 does a much better job.
